Every product with a hazard symbol needs a safety data sheet — right down to the washing-up liquid the club buys for the staff. It must be current, there must be a chemical register that meets Arbetsmiljöverket / Arbeidstilsynet requirements, and each chemical needs a risk assessment. Municipalities are checking, and clubs can be fined for not complying with the laws and regulations.

What the club gets
Structure and control over every safety data sheet the club holds. Not in a binder, not in a folder on a personal computer.
Each sheet is found in a digital structure that mirrors the physical place it is kept — machine hall, workshop, chemical store, clubhouse. It can also be searched for on its own, by name.
We check every year for new versions and replace what has been superseded — including sheets still in the old format. Nobody at the club has to keep track of which ones need replacing.
You can add a new safety data sheet yourself, or send us an updated list and we will update the register. A register that lists products you no longer have — or misses what is on the shelf — is worse than no register at all.
The requirements, in plain terms.
Three rules, in short
If a product carries any kind of hazard symbol, a sheet is required.
A safety data sheet must be available to the people who work with the chemical.
Sheets must be kept up to date, and the version in use should be checked once a year.

Swedish and Norwegian law both follow the EU REACH regulation: any product with an identified hazard — a warning symbol on the label — needs a safety data sheet. In practice that is almost everything on a golf club’s shelves.
Arbetsmiljöverket also requires a register of those substances, holding specified information beyond the product name and stating where each one is kept, and can require a chemical to be risk-assessed for how it is actually used at the site. Sheets must be kept current, and since January 2023 they must follow a specific format — older ones are no longer valid.
Keeping on top of that is substantial work, and most clubs do not have the time or resources. Being found without it can mean a sanction charge.
The same applies in Norway. REACH is in force across the EEA, so the safety data sheet requirement is identical. The equivalent of the register there is the stoffkartotek, which also covers other health-hazardous substances and biological material.
